산상수훈
"Do not store up / for yourselves / treasures / on earth,
축적하지 마라 / 너 자신을 위해서 / 보물을 / 땅 위에
where moth and rust destroy,
좀나방과 녹이 파괴하는
and where thieves break in and steal.
그리고 도둑들이 뚫고 들어와서 훔쳐가는
But store up / for yourselves / treasures in heaven,
하지만 축적하라 / 너희 자신을 위해서 / 보물을 / 천국에
where moth and rust do not destroy,
좀나방과 녹이 파괴하지 않는
and where thieves do not break in and steal.
도둑들이 뚫고 들어와 훔칠 수 없는
For where your treasure is,
네 보물이 있는 곳에
there your heart will be also.
그곳에 너의 마음 또한 있느니라
"The eye is the lamp of the body.
눈은 몸의 등불이니라
If your eyes are good,
만약 너의 눈이 좋다면
your whole body will be full of light.
네 몸 전체가 빛으로 가득 찰 것이다
But if your eyes are bad,
그러나 만약 너의 눈이 나쁘다면
your whole body will be full of darkness.
네 몸 전체가 어둠으로 가득 찰 것이다
If then the light within you / is darkness,
만약 네 안에 빛이 / 어두움이라면
how great / is that darkness!
얼마나 크겠는가 / 그 어두움이
"No one can serve two masters.
누구라도 두 주인을 섬길 수가 없느니라
Either he will hate the one
하나를 미워하고
and love the other,
다른 하나를 사랑하든지
or he will be devoted to the one
아니면 하나에 헌신하고
and despise the other.
다른 하나를 경멸하든지 할 것이니라
You cannot serve both God and Money.
너희가 하나님과 돈을 둘 다 섬길 수가 없느니라
"Therefore I tell you,
그러므로 네가 너희에게 말하노니
do not worry / about your life,
염려하지 말라 / 삶에 대하여
what you will eat or drink;
무엇을 먹을까 마실까
or about your body, / what you will wear.
혹은 너의 몸에 대하여 / 무엇을 입을까
Is not life more important / than food,
목숨이 더 중요하지 않느냐 / 음식보다
and the body more important / than clothes?
그리고 몸이 더 중요하지 않느냐 / 의복보다
Look at the birds of the air;
공중의 새들을 보라
they do not sow or reap
그것들은 심지도 않고 거두지도 않고
or store away / in barns,
쌓아두지 않는다 / 창고에
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
그러나 너희 천부께서 그것들을 기르시니라
Are you not much more valuable / than they?
너희가 훨씬 더 귀하지 아니하냐 / 그것들보다
