"Again, you have heard
"또한 너희는 들었다
that it was said / to the people / long ago,
말해지는 것을 / 사람들에게 / 오래 전에
'Do not break your oath,
'너희가 맹세한 것을 어기지 말고
but keep the oaths
그 맹세들을 지키라
you have made to the Lord.'
너희가 주님께 한
But I tell you,
그러나 나는 너희에게 말하노니
Do not swear at all:
도무지 맹세하지 말라
either by heaven,
하늘을 두고도
for it is God's throne;
왜냐하면 그것은 하나님의 보좌이기 때문이다
or by the earth,
땅을 두고도
for it is his footstool;
왜냐하면 그것은 하나님의 발등상이기 때문이다
or by Jerusalem,
예루살렘을 두고도
for it is the city of the Great King.
왜냐하면 그것은 큰 왕의 도시이기 때문이다
And do not swear / by your head,
맹세하지 마라 / 네 머리를 두고
for you cannot make even one hair / white or black.
왜냐하면 너희는 머리카락 하나 조차도 만들 수 없기 때문이다 / 희거나 검게
Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,'
그저 '예'는 '예' 할지니라
and your 'No,' 'No';
그리고 '아니오'는 '아니오' 할지니라
anything beyond this / comes from the evil one .
무엇이든지 이것을 넘어가는 것은 / 사악한 것에서 나오는 것이다
"You have heard / that it was said,
"너희는 들었다 / 말해지는 것을
'Eye for eye, / and tooth for tooth.'
'눈에는 눈, / 이에는 이로'
But I tell you,
그러나 나는 너희에게 말하노니
Do not resist an evil person.
악한 사람에게 저항하지 마라
If someone strikes you / on the right cheek,
만약 누군가 너를 때리거든 / 오른쪽 뺨을
turn to him / the other also.
그에게 돌려대라 / 또한 다른 쪽을
