Excuse 2

By Rev. Billy Graham

Then another fellow will say, "Well, I don't like what I see in the church. There are too many hypocrites." Oh, that's a poor excuse. Are you going to quit going to see the doctor because there’re some quacks? Are you going to quit taking milk because you read in the paper that some dairyman put some water in the milk? Are you gonna quit? Oh, you’d almost have to quit everything in our modern life.
I remember when I was a boy that my father made a lot of deals. He had a small dairy farm. I mean he’d made those deals on the basis of a handshake. My father could barely write his name. But all he had to do is shake hands with those he made deals with. Today when you make a deal for anything, you'd better have about five lawyers. Why? Because there are so many hypocrites in the world. And so that's no excuse to say that there are hypocrites in the church.

Excuse 2

By Revd. Billy Graham

Then another fellow will say,

"Well, I don't like / what I see / in the church.

There are / too many hypocrites."

Oh, that's a poor excuse.

Are you going to quit / going to see the doctor

because there’re some quacks?

Are you going to quit / taking milk

because you read / in the paper

that some dairyman put some water / in the milk?

Are you gonna quit?

Oh, you’d almost have to quit everything

in our modern life.

I remember / when I was a boy

that my father made a lot of deals.

He had a small dairy farm.

I mean / he’d made those deals

on the basis of a handshake.

My father could barely write his name.

But all he had to do / is shake hands

with those / he made deals with.

Today / when you make a deal / for anything,

you'd better have / about five lawyers.

Why? Because there are / so many hypocrites / in the world.

And so that's no excuse

to say / that there are hypocrites / in the church.
