A Prayer of Jabez 2

Jabez grew up in a household where he heard over and over again about the God of Israel. Over and over again as a young Hebrew child, he had heard how God had delivered the people of Israel out of Egyptian bondage and into the promised land. And so he prayed this prayer. This prayer was never meant to be a holy chant. And if you just say it over and over and over and, over again, somehow it’s like a rubbing the golden lamp and suddenly ‘Phoo’, the genie appears and your prayer is answered. That’s not what the prayer of Jabez is.
This prayer was never meant to be a mantra. It was meant to be a model of effective praying. Number three. He experienced an answer to his prayer. Jabez prayed this prayer verse ten and then notice, "God granted him what he requested." God answered his prayer. Jabez went from a difficult beginning. He went on to be the leader of the clan, the tribe of Judah, the most prestigious tribe in all of Israel. The tribe from which the Lord Jesus Christ would come. He had success that he never dreamed of.

Jabez grew up / in a household
야베스는 자라났습니다 / 한 가정에서

where he heard over and over again
그곳에서 그는 계속 반복해서 들었습니다

about the God of Israel.
이스라엘의 하나님에 대하여

Over and over again / as a young Hebrew child,
반복해서 / 어린 히브리인 아이로서

he had heard / how God had delivered the people of Israel
그는 들어왔었습니다 / 어떻게 하나님이 이스라엘 민족을 구원하셨는지

out of Egyptian bondage
이집트 노예생활로부터

and into the promised land.
그리고 약속된 땅으로 인도하셨는지

And so he prayed this prayer.
그래서 그는 이 기도를 했습니다.

This prayer was never meant to be a holy chant.
이 기도는 경건한 노랫가락이 되도록 되어 있는 게 결코 아닙니다.

And if you just say it / over and over and over and, over again,
만약 당신이 단지 그것을 말한다면 / 반복하고 또 반복해서

somehow it’s like a.. a.. a.. rubbing the golden lamp
어떻든 간에 그것은 황금 램프를 문지르는 거와 같습니다

and suddenly ‘Phoo’, the genie appears
그러면 갑자기 ‘푸’하고 지니가 나타나서

and your prayer is answered.
당신의 기도가 응답이 되는

That’s not / what the prayer of Jabez is.
그런 게 아닙니다 / 야베스의 기도가 뜻하는 바가

This prayer was never meant to be a mantra.
이 기도는 주문으로 쓰라고 하는 게 아닙니다

It was meant to be a model of effective praying.
그것은 효과적인 기도의 모델이 되도록 되어있었습니다

Number three.
세 번째

He experienced an answer / to his prayer.
그는 응답을 경험했습니다 / 자신의 기도에 대한

Jabez prayed this prayer / verse ten
야베스는 이 기도를 했습니다 / 10절에 있는

and then notice,
그런데 주목해 보세요,

"God granted him / what he requested."
하나님은 그에게 수여해주셨습니다 / 그가 요청했던 것을

God answered his prayer.
하나님은 그의 기도를 응답해 주신 것입니다.

Jabez went / from a difficult beginning.
야베스는 나아갔습니다 / 어려운 시작으로부터

He went on to be the leader of the clan,
그는 계속 나아가서 부족의 지도자가 되었습니다,

the tribe of Judah, / the most prestigious tribe in all of Israel.
유다 지파, / 가장 명망 있는 지파인 / 이스라엘의 모든 지파 중에

The tribe from which / the Lord Jesus Christ would come.
그 지파로부터 / 주 예수 그리스도가 나오게 되는

He had success / that he never dreamed of.
그는 성공을 얻었습니다 / 결코 꿈도 꿔 본적이 없는
