야고보서(James)

Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body,
마찬가지로 혀는 몸의 작은 부분입니다

but it makes great boasts.
하지만 그것은 큰 자랑을 합니다

Consider what a great forest is set on fire
얼마나 커다란 수풀이 불태워지는지 생각해보세요

by a small spark.
조그마한 불꽃에 의해서

The tongue also is a fire,
혀는 또한 불이며,

a world of evil / among the parts of the body.
악의 세계입니다 / 몸의 부분들 중에서

It corrupts the whole person,
그것은 온 몸을 부패시키며

sets the whole course of his life on fire,
사람의 인생 전 여정을 불 지릅니다

and is itself set on fire by hell.
그리고 그것 자체도 지옥 불에 태워집니다

All kinds of animals,
모든 종류의 동물들

birds, reptiles, and creatures of the sea
새들, 파충류와 바다의 생물들은

are being tamed
길들여지고 있으며

and have been tamed / by man,
길들여져 있습니다 / 인간에 의해

but no man can tame the tongue.
하지만 누구도 혀를 길들일 수 없습니다

It is a restless evil, / full of deadly poison.
그것은 쉬지 않는 악이며, / 치명적인 독으로 가득 차있습니다

With the tongue / we praise our Lord and Father,
혀로 / 우리는 찬양합니다 / 우리 주님과 아버지 하나님을

and with it / we curse men,
그리고 그것을 가지고 / 우리는 사람들을 저주합니다

who have been made in God’s likeness.
하나님의 형상을 따라 지어진

Out of the same mouth
똑 같은 입으로부터

come praise and cursing.
찬양과 저주가 나옵니다

My brothers, this should not be.
내 형제들이여, 이래서는 안됩니다

Can both fresh water and salt water flow / from the same spring?
생수와 짠물이 동시에 흐를 수 있습니까 / 같은 샘으로부터

My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives,
내 형제들이여 무화과 나무가 올리브 열매를 맺거나

or a grapevine bear figs?
포도나무가 무화과 열매를 맺을 수 있겠습니까?

Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
마찬가지로 짠 샘이 생수를 만들어 낼 수 없습니다.
